I like that "bending the rules to make it work." In my novel, Go To Liberty, I capitalized the names of birds. Why? Because my grammar book says that capital letters identify specific things. My editor declared my whole book in need of grammar repair work because of my capitalizing. A bird named Yellow Warbler is now written yellow warbler, as if it were just any warbler that happens to be yellow. I kept the capitalization for clarity. Lost my chance at more publicity because my book was deemed full of grammar errors.

Interesting point, you're making, Eva. I have found more and more that I have to be willing to "bend" the rules in order to make my meaning clear. Especially since Grammarly likes to straight-jacket me into writing in "approved" form. Like anything, we have to know why the rule exists before we decide that we need to change it. like bending the rules. For example I did have to consider the payment to Marsha and Mitchell after all expensed at the closing of their old home, So I dud both. You have read enough of what I write to know that I do not, usually, if ever follow the rules.
God, I got so sick of re-editing The climbing Boy, I couldn't even look at it again...Mark
