Eva, when I was in Hong Kong I have never celebrated Christmas. My parents believed in the Goddess Kwan Yin, and I had never put up a Christmas tree. But when I came to Canada, I learned about Christmas in a special way. It enlightens my spirit like magic each Christmas. I shopped for people whom I knew as giving was a joy for me. I was happiest when I went shopping and THAT was my Christmas.

I also learned October 31 was a day for giving candy to the children. I have never had this experience before when I was in Hong Kong. It's good to open our eyes to the cultures in other countries and other religions.

Very good, as are all, good blog. All you say is true. This period in time always being special to me, in a non religious way. It would be wonderful if we can rid our minds of the terrible things that are happening now... As you know, my Zachariah story is a Christmas story... We even tried to get the manuscript to Disney and Hallmark but unless coming from a big time agent, no dice. One could never see The Climbing Boy" as a happy Christmas story, but yet we are still hours from December 25, 1843.
