There is so much blaming going on. Honestly, this is a mess created by both parties, though both were warned. There is the greedy, money-grabbing elite who never know when to stop, and the money-grabbing middle who want-want-want what they can't afford, and keep borrowing until they owe more than they'll ever earn, even the money-grabbing poor who are not thrifty, but see the glitz of the rich, and with jealous eyes resent-resent-resent... congress caves in, imprudently, and assures us all that we can all have what we want--that America's rich enough for everyone to have what they want, when we all should just have been focussing on our needs, and our neighbor's needs.
We live in a greedy-greedy era, that is for sure... and went walking about-- buying about, as if we knew that money was something we could spend, though we didn't own it...and we did that like crazy! We all did. Everyone's at fault here.
What kills me most, are those in congress who initially voted "no" on the bill, and then changed their votes after all the pork was added! What is THAT all about?
My congressman assures me that there is a provision in the bill that says that come November, it will be re-evaluated, and adjusted according to the need... from 4 pages to 400+-- it's just crazy.
For sure, it's the poor who will suffer most in this. My community has adopted a great way to help the poor here. I think every community should help out as much as they can--share your table, your home--whatever you can. Some communities are so poverty-stricken, though, that there will be much suffering. This should be solved on the state level though, not on a federal level. I'm a great proponent of LESS government, not more. How can the Washington elite know anything about our individual communities more than our communities/states themselves?
I feel your pain. But this is not simply a Republican bail out. This is a problem we all created. And PLENTY of non-Republicans were involved! (Barney Frank comes to mind) --Charlie
