Thank you for responding to my blog! I'm only finding out your response today, so, sorry for the delay in responding to you!

Many Chinese restaurants in Toronto have gone out of business because of the pandemic, and now most dim sum can be bought in the frozen section of the Chinese supermarket. There is a T n T supermarket near where I live and we can even buy the shrimp and port dumplings in the frozen section. When cooked they are so good they taste the same as those ones we eat in Chinese restaurants. There are ready-made hot food counters as well where we can buy them and eat them like the fast food restaurants, but these are freshly made.

I have not stepped into any of the restaurants after the pandemic, only buy or order them online now. Occasionally, I would put all leftovers together to make a dish and it's quite tasty. Heehee!!!

I cooked at a nice Chinese restaurant from 78-80. I was brought on for the American side but did learn much of the Chinese side of the kitchen. The boss would prepare meals for all employees for a meal before service began. He cooked what he liked in a manner he liked. We did a special meal one year for Chinese American club which took three days to prepare. After eating that, I find it very hard to eat at Chinese restaurant popping up all over the place serving greasy bland food.

I miss those meals from back in the day. Take care as you cook. It sounds like something you love to do so you are willing to fight the elements of the kitchen for it.

I wish I lived closer to you. I would invite myself over.

Hi JoAnne:

I'm running out of breath between going into kitchen and coming back out to the front room. I'm boiling the noodles now. The veggies are done already. Thank God!

I will have BBQ Duck, BBQ Pork, Spicy Pork Chops, and the Vegetable Lo Mein.

Also, there will be some snacks as well. I will lay them all out in the front room before I go to sleep. I hope my mom and dad and my brother will like it. Also, my grandmother too. <y Grandma was so dear to me, I always have a spot for her on the altar. I hope they will enjoy what I have made. Heehee!!!!

Sandie, I really miss your soul here. Wow, I only wish I had such a large extended family so close as yours! You have no idea how greatly you are so blessed Sandie to have your family.
