In certain cases, I think that "closeness" of siblings drops off after the death of the parents. Yes, this is unfortunate. Still, it is up to each one to continue or to protect the strength of the ties we might say. After my parents died, I said I would never fight or argue with my siblings, which I haven't, even when we disagreed on something. Nowadays we don't see each other very often (I live so far away is one reason, but over there they don't see each other that often either [!]). One writes fairly often by email. One thing is everybody's interests! They're so different. As you say, though, which one is perfect? Good write.
