K2 - sorry about your loss. I agree; death sucks, especially when one has to CELEBRATE it. Funerals; what's that all about? Open casket... puulezzzze! Can't we just remember our loved ones, human - or not, as they were when still alive? I lost my Friesian mare Ivey right after x-mas last year, she was only 5. It was a freak thing and it ripped my heard out. As it did when we had to let Bear-Dog go. I know I will bury Bailey, Chat, Broderick, and probably most of our future dogs, cats, and horses, too. However; I choose to celebrate life. Yes, they all get a special burial site on our farm, but I always honor them by remembering the great times when they were alive and kickin', just as you did in your blog.
