There's no need to lecture me on race sensitivity, Ron. Some of my closest confreres back in Berkeley of the 70s were black intellectuals (whom I respected highly), and white friends with black women friends. My apartment on Grove Street (now MLK Avenue) was directly across the street when the FBI burst in on the Black Panther HQ in the early AM. Some of my closest (white) friends were the target of racial slurs and hostile acts by ignorant whites when they stopped at a gas station to fill-up, with their black girlfriend in the car.
Many of my fellow medical colleagues and department heads at Highland General Hospital (Oakland, CA) were black. I never considered them to be any less worthy than myself, at any time, and a number of them were far beyond me in terms of their intellects.
So, 'a bit of white resentment'? Yes, in fact I do HIGHLY resent having the accusation that I am personally (and my 'white ancestry) the sole source and cause of the entire world's racial misery, thoughtlessly flung at me, every time I turn around, and what's more, NO ONE needs to tutor me on any of this material.
Never forget that, Ron, your own feelings to the contrary (apparently), you do NOT possess an exclusive franchise on consciousness-raising awareness relating to race relations...
And yes, I am well aware of Gates' experience. Sometimes your tone tends to be a bit irritatingly condescending, Ron. Needlessly. It certainly seems to be in this instance.

Happened on this by accident… My, that was loooong! Wondering why you didn't post it in the Articles section. I almost never come to this section where blogs are generally boring.
I sense a bit of "white" resentment in this piece. A tendency for people of superior intelligence to come up with their own philosophy of everything. I am, at least during my school years, no dunce, having been the brightest bulb in many a class and liked by most of my professors because I didn't try to con my way through but gave it my best shot.
In my long years associated with black people, I found myself bested intellectually many times. So my general assumption is that while all people are different, some people, regardless of there's both race, have superior intelligence and should be given credit for it.
Dr. Henry Gates, having lost his key, was trying to get into his house after returning from one of his many ventures from his Harvard research studies, was arrested and humiliated by police. Neighbors did not know that he owned his own house.
That is just one example. I have been stopped for no other damn reason, multiple times for either driving with color or riding with color. I've known parents would let their children drive their fine cars. For most people of color, driving means being stopped and questioned, sometimes searched. Why is that? My twin brother was finally picked up for drunk driving last year. For many many years, he has driven drunk from his many forays to familiar haunts, without ever being stopped.
I just sent you two suspects in the Minneapolis fires after George Floyd's death. One is Hispanic and the other may be Middle Eastern Muslim. They are married and she is expecting a child. What are they teaching their children if they go on a burning rampage in the name of black protest? Is there some other motive?
