Thanks for that balanced, nuanced and equanimous response, Alan. I share your hope that we shall be able to weather the storm that presently threatens our republic. It is a noble cause, indeed.

For what it's worth, my own mother was one of those strong women you mention and I have absolutely nothing against feminine strength...as long as it is well leavened with a healthy mix of intelligent reflectivity and well-reasoned sagacity. Also for what it's worth, my own wife (who is, to modify a that lovely PC catch phrase of the left, "A person of yellow color") a strong woman, but strong in a manner unique to people of the East Asian persuasion...that is, NOT overtly confrontative or threatening to our fancied collective masculine ego, yet still as strong as titanium alloy in her subtle methods and oblique manner of resolving matters. Strength, like intelligence, comes in many complex shades and hues, to be sure!

There's a lot to swallow here. I've known strong women (my wife and mother are good examples) who haven't put men down, but at least in our educational system they may now be in the minority. After the Constitutional Convention finished its work, Ben Franklin was asked what kind of government do we have? His answer was, "A republic, if you can keep it." I hope we can keep it.
