i'm not sure how one should define "slang", though i think using colloquial language is a perfectly legitimate literary technique.

however, who are you marketing this book too? it seems like if you're hitting the right market, the readers won't be complaining about too much slang. i'm guessing you do urban fiction, right?

but hey, is only the dialogue colloquial, or is the narrative also street language?
