Bill I agree completely. And yet some authors get lucky to wit J.K. Rowling. Many agents rejected her. Now, they are very sorry considering how much she's earned. I now have 16 books pubbed at Lulu.com. To buy a Walker Jackson 6X9 printed book it'll cost you $15 shipped. Readers can go to many places and buy so called best sellers for $8. I don't have a national reputation. Readers will not pay $15 for my books. It's as simple as that.

Bill -- I agree with you on this one. The book publishing business will re-invent itself. This is a very interesting time to be an author.

This blog is dead on!!! We all know how the traditional publishers work...and they rarely take new authors...because they are in it for the money...duh...they keep those best selling reputation authors because they bring in the dough... "Vanity" press has gone by the wayside these days, and if self promotion is what it takes, then so be it!!! Good blog... from another self promoter! and I do it shamelessly!! hugs, lindalaw |
