Well Said Peter A. I wish the film industry could feed that generation of twelve year olds and under some fodder for peace and tranquility instead of war and gun violence. But that perfect world just would not sell, as you said.
Violence sells because it is inherently exciting visually regardless of the morality involved. Today's mindset has been trained by a war games video culture to gravitate toward visual violence.
Terrorism is visual violence also and the media uses it to attract readers and viewers. This drives terrorism to higher levels.
Pro Football is a controlled violent sport of body banging. It's plagued by injuries and concussions.
The 2nd Amendment has inadvertently spawned violence domestically because guns go off when unruly emotions pull the trigger.
The US was won by guns and violence with as many as 9 million Native Americans killed to make way for the European White Man's capitalism.
And so our movies, books and even some of our music rides the dopamine wave to spawn more violence because it sells well and the audience needs a continuous fix of violence. By contrast peace and love are boring to the average viewer.
The world today is a product of separation, not oneness. This separation on almost every level spawns more violence. And the violence is getting more and more spectacular with each new technical advancement whether it is in the media or in the military.
