Not certain of the stats; hwr, I could be sure that life goes in cycles, even with mothers and daughters. Your post was "visual" with the wording; very good! The blog made me ponder about my own as well.. I am a mother and grandmother now; and felt all of the emotions that you mention at one time or another....some I'd rather not admit to; but do all the same!
When mine was born, it was a miracle of life...wanted, loved, and filled with many dreams for her future.. As she grew, she began to distance herself..or was it me? Sometimes we are not aware consciously, but I see it so much more clearly now. I also saw her as my youth and my dreams hopefully coming to reality...but she had her own visions, her own plans...dreams... Even when I didn't agree or accept; I held my tongue..but as you say..you can see into the eyes...but can you really? We think we can read the eyes, the mind...but often it's so much more complicated..both sides. Rebellion set in somewhere in there, and we missed out on alot of love and wonderful times...but I prayed always..that God would show me how to stay supportive; to be there for her no matter what...both sides. She began to find herself, her dreams, her life... and I began to feel the relief, the pleasure, seeing her doing well, inspite of me... Now I am older, alone, and she loves me as her own child now... She dotes on me, she comforts me, she strengthens me, and she is at peace with herself and with me at last. There are seasons, and that is meant to be quite literal! I am blessed with this beautiful resolution between me and mine... but I too will always wonder about my own mom... so you see... the cycle is a circle.
