Many of the young are judged and criticized from the actions of their peers. They are growing up in a difficult time...and to encourage them is a "village effort " To be sure the young have a promise of a future and to make their path less troubling. He does have the writers touch and hopefully he will spread his wings and soar!

I'm so sorry that I missed your grandson's poem. Writing is sometimes a lonely occupation/avocation in that it is all 'you' and not much else. But, the 'you' that goes into your work, whether it is poetry, short stories, essays or novels is the part that really counts. I wish him well and also encourage him to continue and not to be shy about sharing his work. Perhaps your writer friends have given him more than a 'good job' exclamation. Count me in.

We all started where that young man is at ... encouragement always helps. That's why I've stayed here since 2001. Just right now, need a break, because my priorities are messed up: am I writing because I love to or for the reviews? Sometimes I wonder ... tell Brandon to keep writing. I will, eventually, hopefully, when I get my head straightened out.
