"WHERE ARE YOU? WHY CAN'T YOU SUPPORT ONE ANOTHER? "
17 Comments - Show Original Blog
Thankfully, some of you understand!! It's not about reading and reviewing..it's about actually doing something for another thru our actions... None of us are going to get rich or get contracts thru this site...(well, hopefully from our lips to God's ears!)...but just kindness to one another... that's a gift all by itself...
hugs, lindalaw
You are an amazing woman, Linda. With your words you reach out and touch others hearts, but you also validate with your words. That is a rare quality.
I get the impression that this blog isn't necessarily about reviews on poems, short stories, etc... but more about supporting one another through our actions.

This is so true, if we can do nothing else we can give of our time, our love and support

In regards to Randy's comment about me:
Yes, you are right about that. We just don't categorize ourselves as being just one thing. I'm now actually having a keen interest in graphic designing. I'm looking forward to this new hobby of mine, which I hope will eventually land me a job as a graphic designer.
Thank you Randy!!!

Linda,
Yours is a powerful plea to help ... I hope many read and act upon it. The Den has brought me a world of friends; I am grateful for just one read, one review (but more does make you feel better!).
(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
I wish Rowley could spread his sense of humor generously round the world. He's really funny.
Linda,
Normally, when I don't know quite how to respond to a post/article, I just don't respond. However, in this case I decided to tell you that i don't know how to respond.

My suggestion is that we follow the example of a certain quite popular Canadian author. From my experience, that author, when reviewed, goes to the site of the reviewer & reviews a pick immediately. Sort of a tit for a tat, right? I don't see anything wrong with that. Some of us get tired of certain areas. For example, one week we don't want to read any poetry. We're bored with it. Another week we read poetry but don't feel like reading articles (non-fiction). And so on. One has the right too. I certainly have been and felt superbly blessed by your visits to my site, your endearing comments, etc. So, I would certainly miss those if you stopped (I hope you won't). For Sandie's comment, we shouldn't think of ourselves as ONE thing: a writer or some other "thing". We can be and are many things in life. So, we can be a writer, a pianist, an illustrator, a designer, and so on. Remember all the "things" Thomas Jefferson was. Sandie already is a writer and an illustrator as well as office worker. Who knows what other talents she has but I'm sure there are many? The final thing I wanted to say is when I joined AD I never actually expected many comments/reviews to come from writers. I've always thought writing for a serious writer should take up a lot of time. Unfortunately, many readers (practically all nowadays) simply click, read or not read, and go away. Not making any comment. This is evidenced by the "hits". You know they've been there, but who were they? What did they think? Hugs and love from my little corner.
Sandie... I wrote you a note on your webpage...hope you receive it soon. I totally know how thoughtful you have been in giving of your knowledge, your experience, and your time... Seems that we just have to swallow hard and let those who cannot find a minute to say something kind about the work of their fellow peers... oh well...Merry Christmas to you... God does know our heart doesn't He.... hugs, lindalaw
Linda:
I have deleted all my blogs on both my sites. This one and the Sandie May Angel Joyce's site, mainly because whenever I posted blogs about my books, no one seemed to care to make a comment or make an effort to say a few kind words.
It's not that I needed someone to buy my books whenever I posted the news where you can find to buy them, it's a matter of letting my friends know that through hard work I had finally succeeded in producing the books. I don't certainly expect anyone to say a few kind words of encouragement to go there to buy my books, but any kind words helps ease the hardship and to know that someone DOES read my blogs about my books and care enough to make a comment.
But in many instances I posted news about my books no one seemed to care less to comment, I myself have been a great supporter for friends in th den, I helped authors who have formatting problems in their books, and even told them news where they can best to have the books published. I also helped authors and orphans and I don't advertize it in the den.
However, I find it distasteful that whenever I posted blogs about my books that no one seems to care enough to make a supportive comments. We are all authors, and writing and producing books are what we do, but when one really succeeded in producing a book for their friends to see and read, the expectation is that the books and the hard work are being appreciated.
I gave tons of information on "how to do" things in the roundtable, spent my time in writing the information and the instructions; and then no one seemed to care enough to thank me for the lengthy information and instructions. I DO care about my friends, but sometimes when I do things to help out no one seems to care enough to respond to what I have posted.
I'm like some invisible person(s), like talking to myself, or talking to a brick wall, and I'm sooo tired of not being appreciated!!!
I have deleted all my blogs on both sites. I don't plan to stay in the den for too long. I don't even know if I still want to be a writer.

I want to address some of this a little more clearly!!!! Fee...if you read my blog..you will see that I say there are many who do and do...but many who take and take....(those who take know that the shoe fits rather tight!!!!)...Yes, there are many...and you and I can list them thru our own friendships on this den...who are wonderful, caring, giving, and always standing up to help (not with money necessarily altho money too)..but with prayers, encouragement, etc.... and to LaBelle...yes...many are soooo busy...I totally understand that oen too....I doubt there are many on here who don't have their days filled to the max...including me....I do not live the life of Reilly...but even when I have to take my days away...which I must....when I return...I truly want to make sure that if I have an extra minute that I will ck on my friends here and read their work...say a word as often as possible...and it just does not kill me to do it!!! Sorry... I mean no disrespect here...because you know I love every single one of you here...We in fact, seem to be a team in more ways than one....so...perhaps I'm just callous...can't find the pity party in me at this moment...and yes...I do believe in God and don't care if people like that or not...I respect their choice to choose their beliefs whatever they may be... and I don't want to make enemies, nor do I want to kiss ass either... I simply state what I feel and what I see... so maybe I'm just twekked in my view....and I encourage people to speak their mind...if it hurts I'll live...if it doesn't "hot-dog"... but right now...I guess I just feel that there are ways we can be more supportive of one another...period... simple as that!!! Sorry if I have offended some of you...but like I said... ouch if that shoe fits too tight... sometimes we just have to add some talcum and try to slip that shoe back on...maybe it won't hurt so much...Don't ask me why I felt so strongly about this today...but I've been feeling it for quite awhile now... I'm happy with my stats, and thankful actually...and I am secure enough with my work to know that I'll never be famous or rich...but I still know that I am not so selfish that I cannot read the work of others...and say something to encourage them... if I don't like their work..I skip the piece...so I understand all the angles... and obviously many skip my pieces and I don't cry...I just know to work harder.. All I ask is that you look in the mirror...and act...don't just talk about it!!!! thank you... lindalaw

Linda,
YOU ROCK! You have said some things that many think, you are always concerned and kind to den members, you have a VOICE. And many listen because they know you well...from your writings, kind reviews and your-VOICE
You have no fear of rejection for your words and that is why you ROCK! I would like to say, Thanks for all the uplifting reviews, and all the caring kindness you show EVERYONE! Love and calmness to you, CarolHawks
As the season of giving comes to a climax I tend to agree with some of what you said Linda, people do need help in the worst kind of way at times but...I don't think we can blanket everyone as being talkers and no action. I have seen some very wonderful and magical moments on the den of people reaching out to help one another and the truth is the ones that do this prefer to remain annoymous so we don't often hear about it. I think though if you ask around of individuals you will hear some remarkable stories, I know of at least a half a dozen "real" live cases of people reaching out.
hugs

Linda this is a heartfelt blog. Maybe some of the absences and failure to comment is because many of us are burdened down with things in our lives. I am lucky if I can just write a poem or story occasionally now, but yes, we do need to support each other. Happy holidays to you My Friend.
One reason I track you is that I feel you do care about people and are encouraging. And there is so much here to look at! Please keep the faith. Susan
I agree so much with what you said Linda, it seems so many go inside instead of reaching out to others. Good and honest assessment to what we can do. Love you my friend and appreciate this honest write. Love and hugs, Bonnie
