"Is this Normal? Questions abound about Top Stories/Top Poems??"

I have a hard time believing the "top 25 lists" on the home page mean anything. I have been on them before and have spent time looking at them... more often than not I find that the stories/poems are several years old. If they go only by statistics then why have some of my poems been listed on those lists? It makes no sense to me...
I guess that doesn't answer your question, but I definitely have had the same question. Now... I just ignore the lists on the home page. hee, hee...

I, like Edwin, didn't know that there was a top 25 list. This may well be due to my relative inactivity here on AD and also due to the fact that I rarely visit the Home page. I don't know how one makes the top 25 and don't know if I've ever been on that list but I totally get what you mean Linda. I think it probably relates to number of hits on a new item (one that appears on the latest poetry page) and nothing more. It looks like you're up there so your work is being read and that is something we all (whether we admit it or not) desire.

At least for some - wanting to have 100 reviews and other wishes like this.

W\Even yourself, having tens if reviews, wondering why older piecs have tens over tens.

At leats you have reviews to speak about.

Ha! I like Edwin's comment, too. I know I am always a bit shocked when I see one of my pieces on that Top list, and I always wonder why it got there. Sort of like when my name comes up on that list of featured authors (which is only a randum sampling of all of the Gold members -- so it really means nothing). Most of the hits you are showing on your Stats are coming from non-members; Readers who do deeply browse our archives. You will be flat amazed to see your Stats two years from now. All of your titles will show triple digits, and some of your titles will show thousands of hits. And you will be really amazed to see how the hits on your Bio will sky-rocket!!! I hope you are keeping your Keywords updated because this is what gets your works listed higher in the major Internet browsers, and, in turn, this vastly increases the hits on your works. Can you tell that I love working the Web?

Linda, after a week or two of "showing" our work, they all go into archives and never seem to be pulled out again. So in order to get reviews and comments one has to continually post new item since very few will go into the archives to look for the older stories. Yet like you my hits are gettinghigher every day so I give up.

I sometimes wonder about that myself. But I don't let it bother me; I'm just glad to have anything in there! Especially on the stories; maybe then people will read/review my stories! It'd be nice to get more reviews on my stories like I do my poetry!! I'd LOVE to have 100 + reviews on a story; I'd feel like if I were Danielle Steel or Jodi Picoult! LOL
