Hey it worked in Cuba... didn't it? There was no looting after the last hurricane... Of course the people didn't have anything to steal.

I agree with you 100% Frank...As an employer, I have felt the pinch from all sides here in California, and had to lay off some folks to maintain a profit margin that allows further growth. Obama's plan is a sham and a setback but liberty and capitalism will prevail.

Furthermore, to cutback the allowable deductions on charitable donations is utterly reprehensible and shameful at best.

Also, Mr. Rowley (below) seems to have a severly skewed vision of reality, and coming from South Africa it is no wonder he cannot connect with the driving force in each of us Americans who understand and apply the principals that make this country the greatest in the world. It's too bad there are some folks here that feel as he does...oh well...they'll still get the short end of the the stick as they don't have a clue.

An interesting viewpoint you present, Frank. Personally I thin that western governments as a whole are not trying to bail out banks and car manufacturers - they are scrambling to save democracy. Extended to large societies democracy simply does not work as millions effectively have their hands in the cookie jar and bankruptcy becomes inevitable.
If the huge bailouts don't work (and I don't think they will - not in the US, not in Europe, not anywhere), then all that will have been achieved is that Communist China (to which both the US and Europe have gone CAP IN HAND BEGGING) will be owed 2 trillion dollars more.

In the war of ideologies, it seems democracy has spent itself into non -viability. How the Communists in Beijing must be laughing!

I'm thinking of past empires - Rome in particular. Maybe the Russians will sack Paris!
