A spiritual pilgrimage begins with one step. The pilgrimage we are on is one of holiness. The first step is taken in love and faith. The first step we make requires that we step across the threshold from the place were we are now and into the unknown.
While we are on earth we are going along a physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual pilgrimage. As we proceed along the journey of life our bodies first gain strength until they peak then gradually break down towards the enf of lif; our mental faculties, too, gain knowledge until, later in life, our memories weaken and our knowledge fades away.
Our spiritual lives, however, become stronger even at the end of our physical lives because our souls go on living in the next life, the life after death, where we will live in the spirit. It is our souls that do the walking on this spiritual journey, this Highway of Holiness.
