Hundreds of literary lovers will make their way into Karibu Books on Saturday, March 26th for the 2nd Annual African-American Author's Women's History Month Program/Book signing from 1:00 pm to 4 pm, sponsored by Karibu Books and Carla Nelson, at the Karibu Bookstore, Bowie Town Center, Bowie, Maryland. Karibu is the largest African American owned bookstore chain in the USA.
Among the featured authors, will be Thelemaque Publishing's own poet Sistah Joy (Joy Alford) and authors, grandmother Celia Ford, daughter Theresa Allen, and granddaughter Pamela Simonson.
Alford is acclaimed author of the popular poetry collection, Lord, I'm Dancin' As Fast As I Can, while Ford, Allen, and Simonson co-authored the best-selling inspirational collection, Pearls of Wisdom From Three Generations.
Reciting poetry and reading from her book, Alford, is also the founder of Collective Voices, Minister of Poetry at Ebenezer AME Church, and Poet-In-Residence at Barnes and Noble.
The multigenerational trio, Ford, Allen, and Simonson, who were 75, 50, and 25 years old when they wrote their collection, pen a weekly advice column in the Washington Informer called Ask Pearls of Wisdom.
