On the heels of the genealogy trend and perhaps in conjunction to it, the wisdom craze has taken hold in an effort to preserve family sayings, generational legacy, and history in the form of books, devotionals, and journals for families to keep track of the wise words that pass down from generation to generation. Right in the pulse of this significant movement are co-authors grandmother Celia Ford (age 75), daughter Theresa Allen (50), and granddaughter Pamela Simonson (25).
Exactly 25 years apart, the native New Yorkers collected quotations that have been passed down from in their own family, but they also included sayings and expressions by celebrities, historians, and philosophers. The Prince George County, Maryland co-authors researched their favorites quotations for the book and hope to inspire others in the same way they themselves have been inspired. Original daily affirmations were also included to uplift readers. Ford, Allen, and Simonson have accepted numerous invitations for Mother’s Day programs, women events, conferences, retreats, Mother Daughter programs, seminars, and book signings. The ladies welcome the opportunity to speak about preserving wisdom and generational legacy in African American families.
Published by Thelemaque Publishing, Pearls of Wisdom from Three Generations has already been selected as the Book-of-the-Month by popular Washington DC radio station, HEAVEN 1580 AM, Book Bytes, hosted by Marsha Sumner. The book has been on the Best Seller’s List since October, and is available on Amazon.com.
