Izora's Wordsmith Café brings poetic new texture to Sistah Joy’s varied spoken word repertoire with videotaped interviews highlighting works of poets, authors, artists, more, bringing a fresh cultural awareness to public.
Poet Sistah Joy, Washington, DC's Poetry Virtuosa, brings her flavor to Club Izora on every 1st & 3rd Tuesdays at 7:30pm, with the new"The Best Of" opening segment of Wordsmith Cafe. The 30-60 minute spotlight is videotaped for subsequent airing on area cable channels and feature artist interviews.“The Best Of” adds another venue for Sistah Joy, who continues to host her monthly poetry set, Verse, Vibes & Bites, at Barnes & Noble in downtown DC. Author of Lord, I'm Dancin' As Fast As I Can, Sistah Joy's forte continues to be poetry, but this new venue will also feature interviews with writers of other genre and visual artists. Wordsmith Café, hosted by Jeff Duarté, is at Club Izora every 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, from 7:00pm to 11:00pm, bringing poetry, vocals, visual art and artists of a variety of media to this Silver Spring venue now flexing its artistic vocals to present to its patrons some of the area's best.
