The sleekness of boats surf a full tide with the flow of warm currents sweeping north-south along the shoreline, while the glint of sunlight flashes from the glistening surface of Surf Lifesaving boats as bronzed crews thrust back on oars with rippling bands of physical strength, towards buoys bobbing with the swell of pride rising in pounding hearts. This is Australia.
A roar of cheers lift from swimsuit clad supports who dance in sunshine while sweeping oars drag the power of long slender boats around markers to ride a rolling swell back towards shading pandanus palms. The author stands watching with tears in her eyes, there is overwhelming pride, Australian flags flick from the bows of boats and wave with defiance from tall poles planted in golden sands to proudly display, "I am, You are, We are Australian."
To the Australian Defence Forces, Air Force, Navy, and Army, who protect the freedom of this beautiful Nation of ours... We as Australians, Salute you with Pride, with Respect, and with Eternal Gratitude.
"Waltzing Matilda ... Waltzing Matilda ... You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me..." Now and forever more, may the Southern Cross shine God's glory over this Nation of unique beauty.
