Kate Kavanagh, received notification that her poem "Watch" won an award in an autumn poetry competiton.

Poet, Kate Kavanagh, writing as Nancy Katherine Cavanaugh, was just notified that her poem "Watch" won Second Place in an international poetry competition.
For her efforts, Kate was awarded a beautiful silver medallion and an award letter from the Editor who was also a participating judge. The judges feedback was highly positive "...we really enjoyed reading and discussing your poem".
Kate's work was inspired by reading a poem by Sylvia Plath. "Watch" was written for Kate's beloved friend and long-time partner who died suddenly in the autumn of 2000.
Kate finds that while dealing with grief from the unexpected and untimely death of her soul mate, has been very difficult for her, "...the writing helps".
Kate's work has won many awards over the years. Her first was an essay written for a national anthology and published when Kate was in the fifth grade.
Kate divides her time between the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and Colorado's Sange de Cristo's.
