Author, Peter G. Engelman will speak on his new book, The Minyanaires, at the monthly meeting of the Covenant Guild at 8:00 pm on September 27, 2004. The meeting will be held in the Offit auditorium at Beth El Synogogue, 8100 Park Heights Avenue in NW Baltimore County.
The Minyanaires is a book about a group of dedicated Jewish men and women who come to the morning minyan at Beth El Congregation. On a regular basis, these people provide the quorum for those who come to recite Kaddish for a loved one that has passed away. The author interviews 19 members as well as five members of the clergy discussing their beliefs and motivations for participation. Subjects such as prayer, healing, beshert, pre-destiny and the hereafter are covered and the answers given are often intuitive and in some cases surprising. A wonderful book for those on the spiritual path.
