Brusa, who grew up in Auburn, now lives in Shrewsbury with her husband, and three children who inspired her to write this novel. “I wanted to write something that was exciting enough for my son, who is not a very avid reader, to not put down,” recounted Brusa. “Also, the main character is based on one of my daughters, and many of the other characters are based on kids that are friends with my own children.” Even her dog Booboo has a role in the story.

While Brusa has been writing short stories and poems since she was a child, this is her first published novel. “It only took me six weeks to write,” she noted. “I think both boys and girls will find it is a page-turner and a good thriller”.
