Dave Pilanski, Jack Cudlos and, presumably, Brian Kudalis himself (the author) are all the same person reincarnated to fight a demonic alien culture whose sole purpose is to dominate, enslave and harvest humans and their souls.  This spiritual/alien evil has been planning this since before human history began and has worked in collusion with humans and alien-human clones/hybirds since, in order to sustain their dominance over humanity. 

This is a work of science fiction but mixes with creative historical realism and Buddhist, or new age, religious philosophy. Throughout the novel, the reader learns more and more, mostly through the eyes of Dave Pilanski/Jack Cudlos, about the history of the conspiracy. Everything begins with the Source Generator, a.k.a. God, an organic mechanism that functions by creating matrices as worlds. The Source Generator works via the collective creations of multiple consciousnesses. So there is a kind of collective or quantum consciousness in how these worlds and parallel universes are created. This may also be an homage to “the force” in Star Wars. In fact, imagine Luke Skywalker is reincarnated to become G.I. Joe and you have the main character(s). Again blending sci-fi and religious archetypes, the lord Reptilian is called Lucifer but he likes to be called Jesus. Possibly a play on the good/bad duality of the narrative, it seems like this is more ironic in that humanity must save itself rather than wait for a second coming. Which brings us to other playful puns and a blending of science fiction with spirituality: “the second coming” refers to a second sun (not “son”) which will reenter the solar system at a determined climactic moment. This word play helps illustrate the level of indoctrination, having been historically interwoven in all aspects of life: from DNA to language to our historical and literary social traditions. 

The book itself is a ping pong game of highly descriptive action-packed sequences alternating with dialogue in which one character enlightens another (and in turn, the reader) as to the history and implications of this alien-demonic conspiracy. It becomes a bit convoluted, especially with the uncertain significance of parallel universes and the dubious realism of these matrices and source generated worlds, but in the end, it is a clear case of the survival of human freedom in a battle of good versus evil.

Scientology meets Invasion of the Body Snatchers meets Star Wars meets The Matrix. Science Fiction presented as historical fact. Sound confusing? Well, at times, it can be. There's a lot going on in this novel. And to top it off, you may as well add “meets The Da Vinci Code” because the entire story is of a ubiquitous conspiracy infiltrating all levels of human history and beyond.
