Hospitals were taboo as far as I was concerned and the opportunity to leave was a relief. Usually, I had a seventy two hour hold for involuntary admissions. The nurse and the doctor looked at each other curiously. I would later get a release form. My mind’s state was not in good condition. My thoughts were racing and I was in a daze from the lack of medications and the seizure. I thought much about just being free from the hold of the hospital and going home to get high. My whole thought pattern surfaced around getting high; and a trip to the hospital didn’t change it. I began to leave the hospital without retrieving my clothes; I left in my gown.
