DISAMBIGUATION: IRISH (March 20, 2023)

You might have noticed one name Irish or Irish Zoo (initial IZ). It is my nickname or pen name, though not a 'given name'.

In our culture we have one full legal official names, that is in all public records. In addition to that we use several specific names in family or among friends or fraternity members. I usually call them nicknames and are used by many of my friends. One was 'Busy'; other was 'Irish'. These are just names.

Ever since I am using the internet and other media, I make affidavits on other names for identification purposes. In this net I used Irish Zoo as my possible pen name. In my older posts and blogs before 2010, you might find occasional references. But I was advised not to use multiple pennames to avoid confusion.

So Irish or Irish Zoo is a nickname or penname for me; but I never had published any copyrighted work in this name.

Lately in my fiction Elo Melo, that is available in Amazon.com, you would find a fictional character Irish Zoo. He is more of a mystic but literature, and a person experiencing magical charms. His behaviour pattern is similar to Bengali folks who are referred to as dhyansiddha ধ্যানসিদ্ধ ---- meaning mystics who achieved higher level of spiritual attainment through meditation. Many religious men are like that in Hindu culture. So Irish is a fictional person who is an Indian mystic, a French literateur and a spiritual person experiencing magical feats that appears hallucinations to many western materialist scientific philosophers.

Disambiguation: D.Sc. etc.

I am serious about getting a D.Sc. or equivalent and I had spent long hours in that direction (see my earlier posts). However procedural matters in my particular case are not yet clear to me. My plans wer originally based on the feedback I received from the IIT Kharagpur and the UIC Faculty during 1995--2000. But registration could not be completed since my IIT Kharagpur supervisor expired.

There are several aspects to it. Those who consider me as D.Sc. (eq.) they treat me as senior, responsible and high calibre post doctoral professional. If I do not get a D.Sc., those who invested in my career are the loosers, and those who invested in others are the gainers. I am serious but I had not registered yet.

 I also  browsed through an article in NY Times on institutionalization of "philosophers" -- D.Sc. (h.c.) is a procedure in that direction. Usually by this means those who made outstanding contribution outside the mainstream University systems are accepted into the University whether British, Irish, Italian or German. Attempts to integrate or 'co-opt' Einstein, Tagore, Gandhi or even Karl Marx would be through such avenues. They are "proven to be right and accomplished"; the award of the degree is just a formality.

I am obviously not that category being Ph.D. (UIC) and then attempting  D.Sc.  -- so an earned degree . There are many systems and also there are humbugs and rascals taking advantages of loopholes. I am plain and simple person interested in a D.Sc. that may be awarded in Britain, Greece, France, Russia, Germany and also in some Indian Universities. But the procedural formalities may be different in each cases, and hence complicated.

I am fully aware that I might never get a D.Sc. or Habil.

PS: I got some feedback from the UIC reference librarian. The lady refered me to several webages. Based on what I read only validates my general  impressions of such a degree; but it is refered as 'higher doctorate' in many cases -- a phrase that is easier to understand. Going through the details you might wonder about some Oxford rules, and a few things about the US tenure track procedure. My work habits are like that of a "higher doctoral degree applicants", not just an alumni nor a riffraf. But I am NOT doing D.Sc. at the UIC, there should be no misrepresentation. Wherever I am accepted, i might apply for the degree.

Also the pages gave me insight as to why you can finish quickly (I know of one very famous German Professor who finished his D.Sc. within a few years of his Ph.D.; other Universities may ask you to wait for 10 years). The National University of Ireland encourages completion of the degree in about a years' time from the date of formal registration.

CLARIFICATION/CORRECTION: JOURNAL

I was interested in starting a magazine/journal. I was talking about it since 1995. It did not happen yet.

Looking back, the plan was OK since I should have bought a good house between 2008--2010. Several of my classmates bought property worth several crores in big cities.

Without a big house I can possibly remain an author, but not start a publication the way I planned. So I have to scrap the idea.It goes without saying that I lost lot of stuff and associated harassment is known to many. I can restart only after I possess a suitable house in an appropriate location.

However I also wish to place on record that my idea of a journal is little different. What you read here is an unedited version of a little journal or little magazine; but it is aperiodic. Other journals are regular and periodic. I cannot say that I had not done anything, but I could not become as big as I had planned. You are still welcome to read me.

Moreover I pondered at great length regarding illegal, obscene and offensive matter. I am of the opinion that many do not understand my sense of humor. In that case you are adivsed not to read me, it is the same reason that I do not read journals of other professions /departments.

This is what I did, and I would do better only after I own a big house, which is not unrealistic judging by precedence. Part of the project was to study its economic feasibility and popularity. You cannot challenge my credibilty and determination and credentials, if I were to say that I am "Editor, PROMETHEUS".

See my earlier posts. I wrote this "clarification" since too many people helped my endeavors since 1995.

CLARIFICATION:

I intend to finish the book, but may require substantial changes/editing.

When I started this page in 2003, many things were uncertain about me; but as time had progresed my options became limted, and left me with a clearer picture about myself; I can rake out the vague stuff now.

My only goal was to record some issues and events in the form of a blog so that I could eventually write a book, tentatively named "aamaar raja hobar spardha".

During the past 12 years, I won over many minds, and so many places and people became part of my life. But I might not be able to remain as living as I was with them. So at times I feel sad and get negative introspection.

I could not finish as many research papers for journals as I had dreamed (I was hoping one per yer), in fact I could not stay at one place like my friends could. The notes that could have led to a book are allgone, and restarting is doubtful. I had also informed the Old St. Patrick Church that I would never come back (I did not assume that they were waiting, it was a courtesy to thank them for the help I received from them).

My father did the best he could do, likewise I did whatever I could and came back to his home.Though I had always felt that we could have done better, I shall remember him as one of the most successful, hardworking and adventurous men I had ever known. If I were to become very rich, I shall start a prize in my fathers' name.

I visited my relatives on either side, participated in their festivals. Without me having wife and grandchildren, most of them found me useless. Now you know what happens if you cannot rasie your son before you turn into the 50's (commies may not like my lower middle class mentality). 

After so much jumping around and pranks wth big people, large number of politicians and ministers came to know of me. Since I could not form a viable organizations, all politicans found me harmless NGB.

My plans have all matured with whatever is left of my brilliance; nothing new to learn or to explore. Only if I could make a house like my father, I would name it "SENDRA ACADEMY" --- that's me.

Yesterday 64 poice files on Netaji were made public by the Kolkata Police Dept. 

It is not possible for me to keep track of all the deelopments in this regard. There is significant support to the claim that the plane crash might had never taken place, and hence Netaji could not have died on Aug 18, 1945.

However since I do not have any independent evidence and documents relevant to this case, I can only quote what the school books write.

After the Govt of India draws a conclusion, I shall post another correction if required.

 CORRECTION BOKARAM:

I learned a new word from a Bengali commercial -- "bokaram".

You can call me bokaram Ganguli instead of bokachoda Ganguli. The two similar looking words mean similar (figuratively to my sense of humour); but the latter may revoke negative response from some people. Bokaram may mean "fool the great"; bokachoda may mean "someone who befriended stupid people".
