As I await edits on my fantasy novel Roots Run Deep, I'm hard at work on the sequel, The Maze of Mist. This will follow the adventures of the next generation of the House of Itxaron. The tone is a bit more grim (if that's possible) but the glimmer of hope that shone throughout the first book is still there.

I have also decided not to call the House of Itxaron series a trilogy. The trilogy format is a rather hackneyed form in fantasy literature and I don't know if there will be a third book. I have other sandboxes I want to play in too! The world that the Itxaron dynasty live in certainly has room for more books, and I do plan to do a related novella and perhaps some short stories, but at this point I don't want to constrain myself to the typical trilogy format. Who knows, it may end up being a trilogy after all!
