Sunset Carson is a gun-totin’, fire and brimstone preacher who carries a Bible in one hand and a load of miracles in the other. He’s not the usual mild-mannered reverend. He’s a double-fisted shooter who stands tall in the pulpit. But, later, when no one is watching, this man of God surrenders to a dark and dreadful sin. A sin that surfaces in the shadows behind his tent.

When his wife is killed, the preacher goes looking for the face that is burned into his memory. One night, while in a saloon drinking, he finds himself face-to-face with a cowboy who makes him burn with lust. An invitation into the man’s bed leads to an affair, but the familiarity of this man’s face haunts him. Where has he seen it before? Was it behind his tent one dark and sinful night, or was it behind a smoking gun?

Take a preacher who has lost his faith, dealing with his homosexuality, and have him falling in love with a man not cut from the same holy cloth as he, and you get an erotic tale of love and self discovery that will leave your mouth watering.

Sunset Carson is unlike any preacher I have ever read about. Quick tempered, gun carrying, and deeply conflicted. This man’s internal struggles are just jaw-dropping. Being a gay man is hard in any day and in age, but on the dangerous Texas frontier even more so. Hats off to this author for putting together such an amazing read. Weaving together religion and homosexuality can be very taboo, but in this case it's eye opening. A good lesson in acceptance and forgiveness.

Pairing a man of God up with a man with no religious beliefs is the perfect conflict. Add to it the lies and deceit from Sunset’s lover Vince and you got yourself a story you can’t put down for one moment. Vince Michaels is an extremely selfish man. When he wants something or someone, he will do whatever he has to get it. He’s a character you want to hate but the author wrote him so well you keep your fingers crossed that he’ll get Sunset in the end. Vince is a complete bad boy that discovers some things about himself through the help of a good preacher.

This story is filled with extremely erotic love scenes. There are plenty of bed partners going around in this story. It’s almost completely unbelievable at first to think this preacher would be partaking in all these sexual acts, with three different partners, but it makes him a more believable character. We're all human and when love's involved it overrides better judgment.

I have to say this book was a complete surprise. A preacher having a love affair with a criminal is intriguing. Kelly Conrad brought together two polar opposites that will have you rooting for them in the end. Rogue Preacher is a must add to your reading list.
