Indie Authors Today host Howard VanEs and I discuss how the germ of The Snake Woman of Ipanema grew in my mind. There were powerful incentives to write it while I was living in Rio de Janeiro but I was unable to do anything about it then. Even the Internet, had it been available 40 years ago, wouldn't have provided all the information I needed. Nothing but deep, intense research would have been useful. And why didn't I do it then, with the books in Portuguese I could have found? Well, I had gotten myself a job at the American School of Rio de Janeiro, involved with The Little Theater, and sold jewelry at home. But the resolve was set.
