Review:
Katy arrives home in rural Arkansas on the run from debts her now-dead druggie husband incurred with a mob character, who wants Katy to pay those debts.

She is met by an old friend, Ben, who has his own demons to get rid of. Can Ben protect Katy from the mob? Can either of them learn to enjoy each other as foretold by Ben’s grandfather, a seventh son of a seventh son, who claims to see the future?

Kinfolk is a great story, well told, with suspense and intrigue around every corner. Former SEAL Ben has to call on all his old training and cunning to keep Katy safe. I liked all the characters, even the ditzy nail tech wife of Ben’s cousin. The pathos of watching Ben’s grandfather fade away is well told and evocative of the feelings any reader has had at the death of a loved one.

This is a great read, whether you are a mystery/adventure or a romance fan or both. It’s small town Wal-Mart chic at its best, as anyone who has ever lived in a small town will recognize.
