With my first novel newly released, and the challenges of marketing looming ahead, I have decided to bite the bullet and put myself out there with a Book Launch at the local library, and a book signing at the local bookstore.  For other new authors out there who are wondering where to start, this seems to me like a simple option which anyone can manage.

The Librarian at the library was very friendly and helpful. She assured me that the library would buy my book, simply because I was a local author, and she gave me all kinds of useful advice about advertising the event well in advance.

The book store manager was very helpful too, and offered me Signed by Author stickers for my books.

Now I just have to wait for the arrival of my first consignment of 30 books. I'll keep you posted, and let you know how it all turns out.

Update: The book launch was not exactly a roaring success, but about eleven people turned up, and we sold ten books.  Since then, knowledgable people have told me that ten books was a pretty good result.  So now we're planning a book signing in Coffs Harbour this Saturday 14th January. I'll let you know how that turns out.  Have to keep trying, right?
