This is a great book for young teenagers - I plan on sharing it with my niece. Fred, an English teenager, goes "across the pond" and visits his father's friend while his parents are travelling. He meets Phil, Julie, and their daughter, Brittany, who is his age. He finds her attractive from the start.
The visit is eventful, with Fred learning about the differences in culture and vocabulary. He meets Brittany's friends, and also several young men led by Steve, who bullies and threatens Brittany and her friends. He even gets to attend a baseball game where one of the players gets his 500th run.
I especially liked the way Brittany and Fred are sometimes awkward teenagers, and often kids with good hearts and good values. Teenage love can be disconcerting, yet wonderful, and this book expresses it well. Fred's defense of Brittany is heartwarming, too.
All in all, a nice read.
I have also received though as yet it is not up on Amazon, a review from an 11 year old girl. This is a way is more important as was my original audiance, though everybody seems to be enjoying the book.

I have enjoyed reading your book "Across the Pond". Many sections were very powerful. For example, when Brit thought Fred had betrayed her was very exciting. I was very anxious to read more.
The meeting between Fred and Harris in the back of the mall was also exciting. It was a huge twist when Julie, Phil and Brit showed up after the fight.
I found your book thrilling!
Also as a young writier, I found it inspiring.
