In "Oksana,"  the narrator eagerly accepts his former roommate's invitation to join him in the California sunshine. What that invitation includes is an opportunity to join him in a sleazy blackmail scheme in which wealthy women are secretly filmed in their hotel showers. Before their scheme gets off the ground, the narrator quits his job and heads back to his dreaery life in frigid Ohio--except that what he started isn't in his control to end. That ending, when it comes, as it will, isn't one he asked for.
