Jonell Kirby Cash is one of the 2012 nominees for the coveted Birchmore Award. The winner will be selected on Tuesday, August 21th in Athens, GA. The Birchmore Award, given annually during the Athens Area Active Aging Connection Conference, goes to the best of those older than 50 who enjoy life and stay physically and socially active.
Jonell exemplifies “aging well”. At 84 she works the lecturing circuit as a professor who still draws large crowds to her conferences, as an author reading excerpts from her most recent novel “A Ring A Dance A Second Chance” and as a philanthropist who supports not only her family of origin but also her “kudzu family”
In the last 40 years, Jonell has taught graduate level classes at West Virginia University, Syracuse University and the University of Georgia. She has traveled extensively, married her high school sweetheart after the death of her husband of forty years and found her way into writing fiction. From professional success to personal triumphs Jonell has lived eight decades to their fullest.
