Los Angeles--The Romance Club has chosen award-winning author, Carolyn Howard-Johnson, as a contributor to a cookbook designed raise funds to provide books at no cost to deserving youngsters.
Called a "near-romance" by one reviewer, Howard-Johnson's literary novel, This is the Place, is the story of a young woman who finds the courage to battle her culture when the time comes to choose a husband. This book won eight awards and her book of creative nonfiction, Harkening, has won three. The cookbook features more than 150 favorite recipes from authors in several genres.
Howard-Johnson has participated in other literacy programs including Wal-Mart and Sam's Clubs' nationwide Literacy Day presentation in April where she spoke at two venues in the Palm Springs area and was featured on ABC.
