Who is at risk this holiday season due to drivers impaired by Alcohol and Other Drugs? We all are.
According the Center For Disease Control every day 30 people die in motor vehicle accidents that involve alcohol impaired drivers. That means there is one fatality every 51 minutes. Some of those victims were not drinking. They were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Statistically one third of all traffic deaths involved alcohol impaired drivers.
20% of all children ages 0 to 14 killed in traffic accidents involved alcohol impaired drivers. These numbers increase during the Holiday season.
Drugs other than Alcohol such as Marijuana and Cocaine are involved in an additional 18% of traffic fatalities.
The bottom line is the more an individual consumes Alcohol or Other Drugs the greater the impairment. When mixed with driving that puts everyone at risk.
