I survived a tour as a conscript infantryman during the Viet Nam War. I was trained to envision the worst that could happen and plan accordingly. if the worst did occur - and it often did - I had a plan of action already worked out.
Years later, I was the foreman of a wild land fire fighting crew (helitack) and the same thinking was necessary. If the worst happened, I knew ahead of time what to do.
The last week has been personally very difficult. But it this "worst case" thinking that got me through it. I'm a bit psychically bruised but still standing.
In itself, I see this as a victory...
