My daughter, Heather Stretch, is my Publicist and Editor, and she has just started typing the first book in a series of 13, The Chronicles of the Brigandshaw Family. A huge task ahead of her considering she has to read my handwriting! Yes I hand write my books. I'm 77 and not very IT literate hence her involvement.
Echoes from the Past, which begins in 1887, tells the story of the first white hunters in a country that was to become Rhodesia and then Zimbabwe. It is due for release later this year and here is a taster:
"The pony grazed softly. Small bells clung to the reins and hanging round her neck. Opposite the pony, on the other side of the forest glade, a black stallion of seventeen hands stood aloof, firmly tethered to the bough of a tree. Both animals were free of their saddles.
The great oak spread roots above the ground bigger than the thickest boughs. Between the half submerged roots green moss had grown and lying on the moss, one elbow propped comfortably, Emily Manderville watched the small white and grey butterfly that was sucking salt moisture from the brow of Seb Brigandshaw, the butterfly’s wings moving open and closed in ecstasy. He was fast asleep on his back, his lips fluting gently to the rhythm of his breath. They had been alone for hours and forgotten the other world, as they had done since childhood."
