Author Charles J. Sloat has published his first novel "The Hope Chest - By Arthur Meds"
(PRWEB) April 26, 2004--In his 294 page humorous novel, Charles Sloat tells the story of fictional best-selling author Arthur Meds. According to the preface written by the equally fictitious Michael Wallace Ellinglsy, Arthur died in a tragic boating accident before he could complete his new novel "The Boat Docked at Pier 14," which was to be the follow-up to his best selling novel "The Hope Chest."
This book presents the first draft of that novel. It chronicles Arthur's attempts to tell a simple story while often getting distracted and sidetracked in the process. Scenes are abandoned. Characters are introduced and forgotten. Three men in a boat find a kazoo and argue about the existence of God and try to find the meaning of life.
According to Mr. Sloat, "The book is designed to break down the barriers between the writer and the reader. The reader is allowed to watch the story unfold as Arthur tries to get it all down on paper.”
At its core, it is the story of a person struggling through adversity – and failing miserably.
