Dean Johnson and Tiffani Thiessen, with their Tit 4 TAT Productions Company, have optioned the original screenplay, HUNG, from writer Derek Nguyen, and are developing the project for her full length directorial debut. The coming-of-age 80’s teen comedy centers on seventeen year old, Hung Tran, who attends Anaheim High in Orange County. An outcast in every social circle, Hung desperately wants to be cool and to belong. Before the school year is over, he’ll expose his name sake, share an unexpected first kiss and realize you’re sometimes better off without the girl. He’ll also learn that life can change for the better – if given time.
On board to produce with Thiessen and her Tit 4 TAT Productions partner, Dean Johnson, is Anne Clements (Quinceañera, Ping Pong Playa). With such honors as winner of the 2006 Sundance Film Festival Jury and Audience awards, the 2006 John Cassavetes Independent Spirit Award and a 2007 Independent Producers award nomination, Clements'' indy film experience and accomplishments are welcomed additions that both Thiessen and Johnson are thrilled to announce.
Thiessen comments, “We’re so fortunate and excited to have Anne on board. All the pieces are falling into place. This is such a great story that Derek (Nguyen) has crafted. I’m so excited to be involved with a project that has so much heart. Plus, the fun, music and nostalgia of the 80’s is just icing on the cake.
Casting is currently underway on the project which is slated to film in Los Angeles.
Bristlecone Magic is a YA Christian fantasy about family, friends, neighborliness, love, magic and yes, even tragedy. The story takes place in Clinton County in upstate New York.
