There is a lot of snobbery around 'self publishing' a book, with people infering that it isn't good enough for a publisher to buy. However the following story will show you why I have made the decision to self publish my next book.
In December 2005 I started a Mexican wave of smiles on The Happiness Show, a television cable network in New York to help raise the positive energy in the world as a smile is the quickest and easiest way to raise it because a smile is free to give, free to receive and is always welcomed.
This summer I helped the Pied Piper Appeal, a local charity who raise funds for the children's hopsital, to pass their smile around Gloucestershire and so kept my wave of smiles rippling, but then realized that children are the next generation of people and felt it was important that they understood how important this simple smile is and how it can help them and so decided to write a story that would tell them all of this
MILES SMILES tells the story of a clown who has had his smile stolen and needs to walk miles and miles sharing other people’s smiles before he can get his smile back.
I am going to give a percentage of all royalties raised from this book to the Pied Piper Appeal and so have decided not to wait for a publisher to publish this book as it could take up to 18 months to get it into print. Self publishing means this book will be ready for children to read within the next few weeks and royalties will be higher, thus giving the Pied Piper Appeal more money for their funds.
