He was one of those guys that- if you picked him apart and assessed him one piece at a time at first glance, your impression might not be as favorable as it would be if you just stood back and took him in at first from a distance.
But after the first five minutes of making his acquaintance (he was so easy to get to know) you knew that you were in the presence of a terrific person. He was someone that you wanted to get to know.
Kind of short, for a dude (just messing with you Eddie). Eyes were all crazy. (He had an injury, or strabismus, or something. Something that you couldn't help but notice- but I never asked what was up, because over all- it didn't matter) He was damned handsome for some reason beyond his control. He had a superb and athletic build. Salt and pepper hair, and his demeanor allowed him to cross boundaries over which most men can NOT step. He befriended folks who are difficult to reach. And he was an awesome playmate. He knew how to have fun.
Eddie was so proud of his recent accomplishments. He really loved his job.
He had paid off tons of bills recently and really got ahead, helped his adult children get ahead, and he was very happy and optimistic about the way his life was going. He had a girlfriend that he really cared about. He even went out and bought himself a new Harley for Christmas. I think it has not even been delivered yet from North Carolina where he bought it on a business trip. Eddie spoke often of how proud he was to be on our project team. He was happy to be with such an extraordinary and intelligent group of
people (as I am). He reminded me all of the time how lucky I am to be a part of the project that we are doing and we always agreed that we were working with the cream of the crop. We shared lots of fun times, and some intimate (but strictly platonic) moments. I considered him a very good friend. He had a heart attack this morning at the age of 47. He died. He will be truly missed. I am so sad to lose him.
