The first of the two poems below won first prize in the adult category in a contest sponsored by the local arts council. The theme of the contest was "What I Can Touch."
Touch the mountain wind
Swirling round dear ones below
Breathe love deep in me.
I reach high and touch the wind and know its substance:
Soft scents of spring surrounding sounds of those I love.
Breathe deep and love touches me.
