A book signing of my romantic suspense novel, All Things Sacred, was held in conjunction with the historic tour of Tanglewood, the old plantation home of the late Ellison D. Smith, former U.S. Senator from South Carolina, in Lynchburg, SC, on Sunday, June 11, 2006. The event was sponsored by the Lynchburg Garden Club.
Tanglewood Plantation is pictured on the cover of All Things Sacred and serves as the fictional home of the main characters in that novel. The present owners, Mr. & Mrs. Wellington Goddin, had graciously given their permission to use the photo of their home on the cover. They are both very warm and cordial people, who welcomed me into their lives when I unabashedly sought them out after discovering their home was a perfect replica of the "Coley home as I envisioned it in the novel.
The tour attracted many visitors and the entire event was quite a success. I was honored to be included and met many wonderful people there! The Goddins are exceptionally gracious hosts. Punch and canapés were served in the formal dining room and out on a side screened-in porch of the plantation home. A reporter from the Lee County Observer was there, and an article and photos will appear in this week's paper.
During the afternoon event, I also had the pleasure of meeting more of the Goddin relatives, who were visiting from out of state. They're all a very delightfully hospitable clan! I must also say that Janet, Lil, and Dot are three of the most charming Southern ladies you'll ever meet, and their entertaining and amusing conversation had me smiling and laughing during the entire time we spent together! My heartfelt thanks go out to the Goddins for this wonderful and rewarding experience!
