Keene - Holistic health author and educator Lonny Brown, Ph.D. will be teaching a new six-week series of Mind/Body Healing classes at Cheshire Medical Center / Dartmouth-Hitchcock in Keene. The Thursday evening classes will be held from 7:00 to 8:30 PM., beginning May 10 and ending June 14.
The Mind/Body Healing course is designed to convey the healthful benefits of relaxation, meditation, humor, prayer, and positive self-programming. It draws on the latest developments in the new medical field of psychoneuroimmunolgy, the study of the effective relationship between the mind, the brain, and the immune system. The classes are both informational - including the latest developments in mind/body medicine - and experiential - including training in practical stretching, breathing and relaxation techniques that can be readily applied in "real life" situations.
"In the past decade, research has proven that personal belief, optimism, and imagination are significant health variables," says Dr. Brown. "Now the mission is to make effective self-healing techniques readily available to everyone. I'm delighted that the Cheshire Medical Center has made this commitment a part of its progressive Community Health Initiative." This is the fourth installment of Dr. Brown's Mind/Body Healing class, which has grown over the past three years from a one-night workshop to a six-week course. The cost is $30 per person.
Lonny J. Brown, Ph.D. is the author of "Self-Actuated Healing - The Alternative to Doctors & Drugs is Within You" (Naturegraph Publ.

He is also a regular contributor to America Online's Alternative Medicine Forum (AOL Keyword AltMed), and the originator of the well-known column, "Healing - Personal to Planetary" in the Monadnock Shopper News. He teaches mind/body healing, stress management, yoga and meditation at hospitals, schools, and businesses throughout the Northeast, and offers holistic health counseling by email, phone, and in person from his home office in Peterborough. www.holistic.com/lonny
