Excerpt from The Rockstar Ramblings

Def Leppard is the latest band to take residency in Las Vegas and play a string of shows. The band is using the opportunity to celebrate their ‘Hysteria’ album and have titled the event “Viva Hysteria!”

‘Hysteria’ was a HUGE album, with several singles and selling over 20 million copies world wide. The initial release was not huge. The first single in the U.S. was “Women”, which received a lukewarm response at best. The album sputtered until the band released the fourth single, “Pour Some Sugar on Me.” The song’s affect on women in bars was jaw dropping, immediately wanting to jump onto the bar to sing, and in some cases, drop panties. The one exception was in New Jersey where this behavior was reserved for the Bon Jovi song, “Living on a Prayer.” As usual, fuck New Jersey. Time for the video…

The boys from Def Leppard are jumping all over, apparently getting ready for a big show. They are jumping a lot to let you know it’s THAT BIG of a show. The song starts off, and anyone just tuning into this band would be blown away by the pale British dudes without shirts, and wait, does that drummer have one arm? Lead singer, Joe Elliot, is wearing his uniform of white tank, distressed jeans, and the haircut every pot dealer in my High School had.

The video is back and forth between live arena rock where the band is being cool (and judging from the front row, pulling in a lot of ass) and then switches to the band being silly before the show. The “before” scenes are black and white. Thank God for the color change, I would have never figured that one out. The cameras and scenes are moving fast, but this is the eighties so I’m just assuming everyone is using cocaine.

Speaking of ass in the front row, that is some big eighties hair! (NOTE: Girls in Dallas and Long Island don’t understand what that means. What do you mean, eighties hair?)

The “head to my feet” sign language at 1:50 is just unnecessary. CRINGE!
