July has been a month that has forced me to revisit my beliefs
At the end of June, I recieved a call that my three year old race horse was inbjured and could loose his eye. He was hospitalized 600 miles away and could not be brought home for at least a week. On July 4th, my daughter and I bnoth had the holiday off and could pick up my horse. Leaving early, about an hour down the highway, my truck quit. After being towed, we were able to borrow a friend's truck and trailer and proceed to get the colt. In the early evening light of his hospital stall, the sight of his eye brought me to tears. In my life with horses, I had not seen such an injury. Upon arriving safely home, within days I recieved the bills for the truck as well as my colts stay at the hospital-the amount is overwhelming. As I struggle to cope with the enormity of it, I am certainly put to the test with regards to how I look at life. I have to remember that even though the mountain ahead feels unsurmountable, what i faced before gaining custody of my granddaughter was even more debilitating.
