Those of you who know my story, know that I teach children labeled as emotionally disturbed. I teach at a middle school so I have grades 6, 7, and 8. I have been teaching now for 16 years and each year begins fresh and new. I began my year with one sixth grader who hasd yet to make an appearance, I heard that his adoptive family gave him back to the state after 6 months and that he is in another town in a foster home.
My seventh graders are mostly made up of those who were in my class last year-already family with one acception, another young man with a "Tough Guy" personna but a child at the core.
Eighth grade, again consists of family-most of them mine from the past two years-they vow to make it out of my class and into "Real" classes.
My one and only female student has on the first day, disrespected her math tacher, told all the boys to, "Shut Up", and instigated a fight. In school for three days, suspended for four.
This is going to be another great year!
