A Must Read Series for All Ages

Jeannie, A Texas Frontier Girl series, Books One through Four, is a must read for all ages. It had meaning for all different ages. Children who read the Jeannie series draw from the characters' experiences and can compare them to their own experiences in a life style many years beyond that of Helga and Jeannie. The young adult will look at the Jeannie series as an adventure into the pastlives of characters who have become friends, and present day children will fashion their lives around the goodness the story delivers. The elderly will see the Jeannie series as a scrapbook, recording all the things that their parents and grandparents have done. To these older folks, it will be an everlasting memory of their past lives as well. Author, Evelyn Horan, of Jeannie, A Texas Frontier Girl, Books One - Four, has captured the essence of Christ's teachings and has interwoven it into the lives of two young girls teaching them God's Golden Rule. It is a lesson that can teach young and old alike. I look forward to the continuing story of Jeannie and Helga, as they too, like all of us, become elderly, for the story cannot just end. Fascinating Historical Fiction Series

Evelyn Horan has written another fascinating historical fiction novel about life in the Old West in the conclusion of the Jeannie, A Texas Frontier Girl Series. Based on historical fact, JEANNIE, A TEXAS FRONTIER GIRL, BOOK FOUR, is set in the Eastland/Ranger, Texas area during the 1880-90s. Jeannie is a strong willed tomboy. Once again, Jeannie and her best friend Helga find exciting adventures. Evelyn Horan's book flows well. The book is filled with detailed scenery. The charming characters are realistic, and the dialogue makes you feel as though you are actually taking part in their conversation—in person! She holds the readers interest with her stimulating style of writing. Horan keeps the suspense going from chapter to chapter, leaving the reader wanting more. JEANNIE, A TEXAS FRONTIER GIRL, BOOK FOUR would make a wonderful addition to school libraries, and public libraries, as it educates, motivates, and entertains. Educators of children ages 11 & up could easily use these books to explore the time-period as well as the traditions and way of life for American pioneer families. This book is intended for young adults, but it is enjoyable for all ages. Sadly, this is the last in the "Jeannie" series. An Enchanting Series for Both Young and Old

Iowa (7/24/2004) With the finesse of the talented writer that she is, Evelyn Horan has presented us with the final book in her famous JEANNIE, A TEXAS FRONTIER GIRL four book series. Horan’s series introduces us to a preteen Jeannie, her best friend Helga and to their families and friends. Interspersed with the fiction, the author offers us glimpses of Texas as it was in the 1880’s. Book four of this, for-young-and-old alike, series carries us forward to Jeannie and Helga maturing into young women. Using their memories of the past, Evelyn Horan, advances her narrative while reviewing bits and pieces of previous books. Book four is a delightful, well-written culmination of Horan’s marvelous “Jeannie, A Texas Frontier Girl” series. Horan’s avid fans will not be disappointed with this, best-of-the-series final book. I applaud Evelyn Horan for her marvelous achievement in penning a series that captures the interest of preteens; young adults as well as us older folks, a series that seems destined to enchant readers for generations to come. We must say goodbye to Jeannie and her friends, but so many great things are happening in Jeannie, A Texas Frontier Girl, Book Four, that we are left with a good feeling, knowing that all will be well for them as they continue on into adulthood. There is much growing up, along with happiness and sadness, as they meet daily experiences. In Jeannie, A Texas Frontier Girl, Book Four, the characters learn to cope with life’s realities, and to continue on undaunted, with a happy attitude of expectancy and joy as they look toward the future. A wonderful reading experience for both young people and adults! Jeannie, A Texas Frontier Girl, Books One- Four are a must for every young person’s library! It will be given to our school library. Jeannie, A Texas Frontier Girl, Book Four, will leave readers smiling. It’s gratifying to see Book Four of the series end exactly the way the reader hopes it will –in a happy, positive conclusion. Jeannie and her best friend Helga have faced all of life’s trials and tribulations, and through perseverance, along with a warm, loving friendship, and their faith in God, they have prevailed. Jeannie’s horse ranch has succeeded, as has her personal life. Her future looks bright and promising, giving your readers encouragement that, in their own lives, they too can overcome hardship and loss. This is a wonderfully written story that young and old alike will find endearing and entertaining. The last in the Jeannie series books will bring tears and laughter, but it will also leave the reader with a warm, comforting feeling of having visited with old friends. An outstanding series for adult and child alike, filled with characters who have become family, with plenty of warmth and love, and rounded out with enough historical information to edify while it entertains.
